Use the following launch option in Steam (assuming you're using GE Proton, not regular Proton): DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command% In game settings: Set graphics preset to Medium. Use Windowed Fullscreen mode. Turn on Dynamic Resolution Scaling. Set Max FPS to 45. Turn off Vsync. Under Visuals, turn off Motion Blur, Film Grain, and Chromatic Aberration (this is more for my own visual personal preference but this may improve performance too). Use GE-Proton 7-20 (install via ProtonUp in the Discover app in Desktop mode), so that you can make use of the above DXVK Async command. This seems to reduce shader compile stutters. No TDP limit - Make sure 40hz mode is turned on in Steam Deck's quick access menu, and then just set the GPU clock at 1100. The game will get smoother as it goes, in my experience, once the shader cache is built. I'm a few hours in at this point and it's running very well.

Spent hours determining the settings that would give the best visuals + battery life and happily settled on these. Set graphics in the main title menu as follows from top to bottom: 1080x600 | Window: Default | Overall: Custom | Texture: Standard | Shadows: Low | Reflections: Low | Effects: Low | AA: On | DOF: On | AO: Off | Bloom: On | Light Shafts: On | Draw Distance: Normal | Point Lights: Normal | Grass Distance: Normal | Grass Density: Low ------ In the Steam Deck's quick access menu, limit the FPS to 30, limit the TDP to 5 watts, limit the GPU clock to 800, turn on FSR scaling with sharpening up to 5.
